Support social enterprises over festive season to help people with disabilities

Apologies for the long hiatus, but I'm back again!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with your families and friends.

While we were celebrating Christmas happily, were there thoughts for the underprivileged?

While Christmas is all about love and giving something to others, heres an article that truly states how one can celebrate Christmas in a meaningful way.

In Hong Kong, social enterprises at the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo has been setting up booths to sell merchandises made by people with disabilities. Members of the public are encouraged to extend their care and love to the underprivileged during the festive season by patronising the booths(social enterprises).

Like what Mr Patrick Nip, the director of Social Welfare had said, "Christmas and New Year are festive times which always remind us of the importance of sharing our joy and love with our family, relatives and friends as well as people in need and the underprivileged,"

During these days while we enjoy ourselves, it’s also nice to share a bit of the love and joy to the people who are not as fortunate as us. This is also a way to encourage them to move forward to another year, filled with support and colours in their world.

Having launched this project since 2001,
it has since provided a total grant of about $46 million to create over 550 job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

I personally find this project very heartwarming and it makes me feel that the world is still filled with caring people around, despite all the negative news and videos that we have seen throughout the years on some of the unpleasant human activities.

With the New Year just right around the corner, have you done your shopping to look for gifts for your families and friends? If not, why not head down to any Social Enterprises, or any shops that has a good cause to the society when you buy their products? In this way, you are making two faces smile at the same time. The person receiving the gift, and the one who made or has benefitted from the gift you have bought.

Have a promising New Year everyone (:
